A chick wearing a pope’s hat and another wearing a white scarf with a red flower are pictured in Norridgewock, Maine. US photographer Julie Persons started her hobby of dressing chicks in hats when her seven-year-old daughter decided to try accessorising some baby birds they were keeping at home. A family from Stockport and their dogs had a close encounter with a confused baby bird when it flew out of a bush and landed on the dog’s back. Scooby, a rescued greyhound-cross was more than happy to provide a comfortable resting place for the goldfinch. The other family dog, Rebel, was keen to make the little bird feel at home by offering what looked like a kiss on the beak.
